Our Camps

The Pleasant Ridge Camp & Retreat Center is owned and operated by Greenville County Parks, Recreation, & Tourism (Greenville County Rec).  This facility was built based on a belief that everyone deserves a place to go to camp regardless of their physical or mental condition.  When you book your next special event with us, not only will you have a great time in a beautiful setting, your support will benefit our mission related programs like Camp Spearhead, Camp Courage, MDA Camp, and other great programs.

Camp Spearhead

Camp Spearhead was created in 1968 to provide camping experiences for youth and adults with special needs and disabilities.  Camp Spearhead began as a program of the Department of Special Needs & Disabilities and was taken over by the Greenville County Rec in 2006.   The facility Camp Spearhead leased for many years was sold and Camp Spearhead needed a new and permanent home.  Through local and state funding, grants, partnerships, and individual contributions, Camp Spearhead’s new home is a reality at the Pleasant Ridge Camp & Retreat Center.
